The doctoral courses at the Bronisław Czech University School of Physical Education in Krakow have been conducted since the 1998/1999 academic year. These are full-time studies and last eight semesters (4 years). It is possible to obtain a PhD in physical culture sciences. The Faculty of Physical Education is the organisational unit which carries out the tasks connected with the functioning of the doctoral courses. The research conducted by the Faculty of Physical Education determines the scope of doctoral dissertations that can be prepared within the framework of the doctoral courses.
It was in February 2008, that the Faculty of Motor Rehabilitation, which began its activity in the 2002/2003 academic year, was vested with a licence to confer doctoral degrees in physical culture sciences. This gives an opportunity to begin the registration and conferment procedure for a doctoral degree that should culminate in a doctoral defence exam at the Faculty of Motor Rehabilitation.
The Vice Dean for the Academic Staff Professional Development and Doctoral Courses is directly responsible to the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education. The doctoral courses are under the scientific supervision of The Faculty Council of Physical Education.
